Start With One Great Day
When people first come to me, they often believe they need to change everything about their life.
They think the goal must be something big.
A completely new future.
A dramatic breakthrough.
A total transformation.
But that isn’t always where real change begins.
Sometimes it starts with something much smaller.
I remember working with a client who felt overwhelmed by many parts of her life. When I asked her what she wanted most, she didn’t talk about career success, money, or anything overly ambitious.
She said something very simple.
She just wanted one great day with her mum.
Just a day where she could spend time with her mum and genuinely enjoy it without worry or stress in the background.
So instead of trying to change everything, we decided to start there.
I suggested she use the Remembering Technique in a very simple way.
Rather than hoping the day would go well, she began remembering the day as if it had already happened.
She remembered waking up looking forward to seeing her mum.
She remembered the conversations they would have.
She remembered the feeling of being relaxed and present while they spent time together.
Nothing complicated.
Just remembering a good day that had already taken place.
What fascinated me most was what happened next.
The day arrived and unfolded almost exactly the way she had remembered it.
They spent time together, talked, laughed and enjoyed each other’s company. When she told me about it afterwards, she said it had been exactly what she hoped for.
A genuinely great day.
Afterward, I suggested that we could continue working together and apply the technique to other areas of her life.
But she surprised me.
She paused for a moment and said she didn’t feel the need to go further.
That one great day with her mum had been enough.
In that moment, she had experienced something she thought might not be possible, and it changed how she saw things going forward.
That experience has always stayed with me because it reminds me of something important.
You don’t have to change your entire life all at once.
Sometimes the most powerful place to begin is simply this:
Start by remembering one great day.
